[PAMS Salon] Asia Playwrights NOW: Place, Diaspora and Trans-locality

The Asian Playwright Project was formed in 2024 and comprises of Seoul Performing Arts Festival & National Asian Culture Center (Seoul & Gwangju), National Theatre and Concert Hall (Taipei), West Kowloon Cultural District (Hong Kong), Kyoto Experiment (Kyoto), SquareSums&Co and Satellites (Auckland) and Contemporary Asian Australian Performance (Sydney).

Mission of the Asian Playwright Project is to explore Asian new writing tendencies- what perspectives and narratives are told now, to discuss how has the meaning of diaspora changed, particularly through an Asian lens and to provide critical conversations on Asian Playwriting with critics and dramaturgs.

At this PAMS Salon, Asian playwrights and performing arts professionals will discuss contemporary tendencies in Asian playwriting and creative perspectives. Participants will also share practical issues—such as the translation, interpretation, and localization of plays, as well as production environments and the roles of institutions—while exploring models for sustainable international exchange and strategies for collaboration within Asian theater.
