The Asia Pacific Festivals Connection(APFC) is a network with a group of festivals, venues and organizations of performing arts in the Asia-Pacific region dedicated to collaborating with each other in order to increase the mobility and/or circulation of Asia-Pacific arts works and artists.
- To collaborate and develop partnerships with inter Asia and Pacific festivals and institutions.
- To highlight Asia-Pacific perspectives.
- To increase the mobility and circulation of Asia and Pacific works and Asia and Pacific artists.
- To build an Asia and Pacific performing arts ecology.
- Co-commissioning and co-producing: support Asian and Pacific artists collectively by co-commissioning or
co-producing.
- Co-presenting: co-presenting works that APFC members produce or present.
- Supporting creative development: research and development support through residency projects, funding and/or
other means.
- Connecting tours: sharing international touring productions.
Period: a tentative 3-year partnership starts from 2024 to 2026
The core members of APFC include:
- Asia TOPA: Asia-Pacific Triennial of Performing Arts (Australia)
- Bangkok International Performing Arts Meeting (Thailand)
- Kyoto Experiment (Japan)
- National Theater & Concert Hall (Taiwan)
- Seoul Performing Arts Festival (South Korea)
- Singapore International Festival of Arts (Singapore)
- Perth Festival (Australia)
Members should share the information that strengthens the exchange as much as possible.
Members are required to attend the physical meeting twice a year. Attendance options include both online and
in-person participation.
Members must support at least one project / artist in any creative way (refers to OBJECTIVES) based on mutual
agreement each year.
Members are expected to host in-person meetings at least once.
New members need to be recommended by existing members and agreed during the in-person meetings.
The application should be sent to member organizations at least one month before the meeting.
Members are required to submit proposals, including production, research, and development projects, at least a
month before the meeting. Additionally, members are responsible for covering their own transportation
expenses, including flight fees.
The hosting member shall provide the conference venue, performance tickets, and event’s pass; preferably with
accommodation and local transportation.
For the year 2023-2024, the secretarial duties will be temporarily handled by SPAF and NTCH. The following terms of secretariat shall be discussed during the second meeting in 2024.
