Sensation and experience of coexistence shared though the body in a world without light.

Inviting you to a world without light. In this complete darkness, you’ll explore a special performing arts experience and discover new senses through the language of the body.

Introduction

“Nice to meet you, and welcome to all. We are in Seoul in 2024. You are now in a world without light. To those who are accustomed to light, this world may be perceived as darkness. Yet for others, it might not be dark at all. This world is a place you are unfamiliar with, where you may feel afraid but can confront the UNKNOWN. Even if just for a fleeting moment, could we believe in the wonder of the experience we are about to share?”

Synopsis

<Unseen Turmoil> is not a performance to be watched but one to be experienced. It tells our stories which are difficult to describe with words, through the body that holds the history of life, sharing the sensation of coexistence. We hope that the audience will explore various corners of this unknown world, perhaps get lost, dance with strangers, and willingly hold someone’s hand.

Elephants Laugh

Based on site-specific performance, the work is grounded in the stories of communities and their places. This approach creates performances that invite strangers to meet each other and become aware of their connections.

  • "Fundamentally, Unseen Turmoil establishes a world that does not replicate reality but leaps into an abstract realm of sensation, suggesting that unseen things may emerge in between. A world where everyone is free in darkness could serve as a veil for a world where freedom is not equally shared outside the darkness.
    - Kim Mingwan, editor of ARTSCENE (2022)
  • In the theater, every audience member takes on the role of a performer through their own 'body language.' The performers ensure that the audience is never left still for a single moment. The performance features a delightful ‘turmoil’ where people grope for others' hands, collide and apologize repeatedly, and ultimately end up laughing together with strangers. This whirlwind of confusion and interaction is the essence of the performance.
