Rising star of the British dance scene James Cousins’ latest work is inspired by one of Shakespeare’s most headstrong and independent heroines in As You Like It. It follows its heroine Rosalind as she flees persecution from her uncle's court to the Forest of Arden after falling in love with Orlando at first sight. Set in a modern city – conservative by day, wonderland by night – the curious, courageous Rosalind embarks on a journey of self-discovery, fuelled by love and oppression.
The Rosalind of Shakespeare’s play As You Like It is a clever, funny wordsmith. In this unique production, created in collaboration with Korean dancers and artists, Cousins takes her passion and eloquence beyond words, to somewhere only movement can take you. This is co-commissioned between UK and Korea to celebrate Shakespeare’s work on the 400th anniversary of his death.
