The very first stage of Berliner Ensemble in Seoul
Collaboration with Robert Wilson and Rufus Wainwright.
Staged at the Berliner Ensemble in 2009 – four hundred years after the publication of the sonnets – Shakespeare’s Sonnets lets appear the universe of the poet more modern and alive than ever. For this performance, Jutta Ferbers has selected twentyfive amongst the one hundred and fifty-four sonnets written by Shakespeare. Director Robert Wilson created in collaboration with the Berliner Ensemble, features music by the singer-songwriter Rufus Wainwright, and uses 25 poems as a springboard for a bizarre, dreamlike pageant.
